I purchased this as a gift for my wife for her birthday. This is a step up for her into a better level of photography. I did compare it to more professional Canon Cameras and I think that for amateur and serious photo buff who wants to practice a more creative level of photography this is Canon EOS Rebel T1i 15.1 Camera. It’s much lighter than the Canon 50D, considering that with the added lens the 500D weighs about the same as the 50D body by itself. The body is smaller than the 50D, so it’s alot easier to carry around for travel. We already had a couple of Canon Powershot point and shoot cameras and the controls are very similar so it is very easy to use because were were already familiar. Once the battery was charged, she was taking pictures; very easy to operate. I opted not to by a kit and bought the body and lens separately, spending a bit more on a better zoom lens. My wife customized it by ordering her own bag and strap. Canon EOS Rebel T1i 15.1 Camera came from a second party, but it was delivered very quickly and well packaged. I was very pleased. I would definitely recommend Canon EOS Rebel T1i 15.1 Camera.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS3 Digital Camera is the perfect combination of portability, price, features and picture taking ability. Previously, I used only a digital SLR camera but grew tired carrying a heavy bag with camera and lenses to every outing. The Panasonic clips to my belt. I hardly notice it until it is in my hands in seconds for great wide angle or telephoto shots. The screen is incredibly clear and I can preview exposure and focus on it. I don’t miss manual controls at all. The various settings take care of all situations. All in all, a great, solid feeling camera with great build quality and just the right size (not too small!) for my hands.

Some reviews I read say it feels plasticky like a toy. I did not like the feel of it that much UNTIL I put the accessory grip on it…and that sold it for me. I love this Canon EOS Rebel T2i camera, and great value for what you get. Its like a miniature version of the 7D minus some of the more “professional” (traslation: complicated) features. I just paid 500 dollars for a professional photographer to take pictures at my wedding, and this Canon EOS Rebel T2i camera takes far better pictures than than his Canon EOS Rebel T2i camera (a Canon 20D). The kit lens is suprisingly good. However, I recommend getting a 100mm 2.8 or 1.4 EF lens…or even a wide 10mm or 18mm fixed lens.
