OK, I have decided that the 10 minute time limit on video is, for me, a dealbreaker. So I have returned the SX130is and am now eagerly eyeing a release date for the Nikon S8100, which I believe CAN record HD video for the limit of the memory card. The Canon still takes great stills, but not as great as I first thought. In fact, the more pics and vids I shot with the Canon the less impressed I became. Really, unless you are in bright sunlight and on a tripod, even the stills just are not as spectacular as they first appeared. I think that first day out with it was just an especially clear and colorful day, because since then subsequent results are not nearly as impressive.

I’ve been a fan of Fujifilm cameras for a few years now.
I wanted a compact cam with an electronic view finder since I NEVER use the LCD screen.
I take photos the old fashioned way, with the camera braced up to my eye so that I can see through the lens and support the camera at the same time for nice steady shots.
This also allows me to shoot with out my reading glasses.
Well this EVF does NOT have a diopter adjustment resulting in blurry image through the EVF.
I returned it the next day.
If you don’t use the EVF then this one might be for you, but I didn’t even get familiar with it since I knew it would be going back ASAP.

What a great camera! I wished I had bought it sooner. Sadly, I’ve been clinging to my old Cannon Powershot s2. I brought the Canon on a vacation to New Hampshire last year and my daughter brought her much less expensive Casio Elixm. Her photos blew mine away! Motion shots out the window at 60 miles an hour came out great and my still photos were all out of focus. Poor me. Can’t get that vacation back. Anyway, I’ve had my new Elixm for a couple of months and it has yet to disappoint. I had to take photos of my dog’s leg after surgery and email to Vet (3 hours away) and he said they were the best photos he had seen… seriously! (I used the Flower preset for close up). I highly recommend this camera!!! Worth every penny and then some!

For many yrs I have enjoyed nature photography as a sideline, but just now I decided to buy a SLR camera. He had used a compact photographic camera and have had some touch with Canon DSLR photographic cameras, but this is my first DSLR itself.
